Cathy Palmer is an excellent and experienced violin teacher specializing in Classical, Baroque, and Renaissance music, also Irish, Scottish, and American fiddle lessons. She directs music groups and designs, directs, and performs music for live play productions. Cathy has performed as a member of numerous folk music groups and has made recordings with them including a recent cd with her musical family.
Cathy has been playing the violin since 1973 and studied classical violin with Gertrude Lurey, Joan Abraham, also Isodore Glasier, and Ralph Phister, both first violinists in the National Symphony Orchestra. She studied Irish fiddle with Rob Thornburgh from "Celtic Thunder" and Brendan Mulvihill, from "The Irish Tradition," Scottish fiddle with Bonnie Rideout and Alasdair Fraser, and American fiddle with Freyda Epstein from "Trapezoid," and Alexander Mitchell. Cathy studied "Transformational Sound" in an 18-month course taught by Don Campbell.
Cathy also plays and teaches the bowed psaltery, a fun and easy instrument for children age 4 through adult and a great way to learn the essentials of music.
